Case Study
— Scott
Situation
Runs 80-100km per week, preparing for his first 100-mile race. No injuries. Booked the analysis proactively, only occasional hip tightness.
Findings
A right-side hip stability chain: left hip dropping during right stance, right knee adduction, increased right-side pronation. Upright posture with slight overstride. The pronation looked dramatic on video but his track record across Ironman, marathons and a 50K showed it wasn’t causing problems, so no shoe change needed.
Outcome
A clear picture of what to strengthen before race-day volume, and confirmation his shoes were right. Sometimes the most valuable finding is what you don’t need to fix.
Scott runs 80 to 100 kilometers a week and was building toward his first 100-mile race. He wasn’t injured. He came in proactively, before anything went wrong, with only occasional hip tightness on his radar.
The analysis showed a right-side hip stability chain. His left hip dropped during right-leg stance, his right knee moved inward, and his right foot pronated more than his left. His posture was upright with a slight overstride. The pronation looked dramatic on video, but I don’t just look at one frame. His track record across Ironman races, marathons, and a 50K showed this pattern wasn’t causing him problems, so I didn’t recommend a shoe change.
What Scott left with was a clear picture of what to strengthen before race-day volume, and confirmation that his shoes were right. Sometimes the most valuable finding is what you don’t need to fix.
